At Church Hall Newtyle, we undertook the transformation of a derelict old church into three beautifully renovated homes. The project combined careful restoration of original architectural features with modern design, preserving the character of the historic building while creating functional, comfortable living spaces. From repairing stonework to installing new interiors, every stage was carried out with respect for the building’s heritage and the surrounding community.

Church Hall Newtyle – Residential Conversion

The Church Hall in Newtyle presented a unique opportunity to breathe new life into a long-abandoned ecclesiastical building. Our project involved the sensitive and imaginative renovation of this derelict former church, transforming it into three distinct and high-quality residential homes.

From the outset, the aim was to preserve the character and heritage of the original structure while ensuring it met modern living standards. Key architectural elements such as the stone façade, arched windows, and timber detailing were carefully restored, maintaining the historical essence of the building. Internally, the space was reconfigured to accommodate three spacious and energy-efficient homes, each with its own unique layout that makes use of the building’s natural features and original proportions.

The renovation required extensive structural work, including roof repairs, damp treatment, and upgrading of all services. At the same time, we introduced contemporary materials and finishes that complement the church’s original design, striking a balance between old and new. Special attention was given to insulation and soundproofing to enhance comfort and sustainability.

The result is a thoughtful and respectful conversion that not only preserves a piece of local heritage but also provides much-needed housing in the heart of the Newtyle community. This project stands as a testament to how historic buildings can be adapted for modern use while retaining their unique identity.
